Solo: A Star Wars Story premiered in Hollywood on Thursday night, and though full reviews are embargoed until the Cannes premiere on May 15, Disney and Lucasfilm did permit attendees to share their informal thoughts through social media.
As such, an avalanche of hot takes for Solo have started doing the rounds on Twitter, and for the most part they're actually pretty encouraging. While there are complaints for sure, and you shouldn't be expecting one of the better recent Star Wars movies, it seems that director Ron Howard has largely pulled it off.
The general sentiment surrounding the movie hasn't exactly been effusively positive, with numerous production stumbles lowering expectations, but it seems that if you go in expecting a solidly enjoyable sci-fi romp that does justice to its iconic characters, you'll have a fun time with Solo.
If you're hoping for anything more - and honestly, why the hell are you? - you might end up a little underwhelmed. From the tone of the reviews, it feels like Solo falls just south of Rogue One's critical consensus, so expect a broadly positive response overall...
