Some Eternal Sunshine for Ripley's Believe It or Not?

Updated: Just as I was about to post this, Slash Film have received word from Gondry's agent that he definitely won't be helming Ripley's Believe it Or Not.Rumor dead folks.Film Ick are reporting that the movie adaptation of Ripley's Believe it or Not may have found a new director after Tim Burton bailed on the project. Michael Gondry is the name being spurted out as being in talks for the movie and apparently their source has been 100% accurate in the past on upcoming Gondry projects. So if Jim Carrey is still attached to the film as before then this will mark a re-teaming for the duo who worked together on what many critics believe to be both men's best work in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. However Carrey has taken on a lot of projects lately, so this is far from set in stone. Since Eternal Sunshine, Gondry has filmed the interesting but slightly naive The Science of Sleep and is currently hard at work on the wacky sounding "time travel" movie Be Kind, Rewind which should be out early next year. I like Gondry's ideas in his films but the way he shoots them sometimes can be a little frustrating. Just when your ready to get to the crux of the matter, he will give you another sequence of doubt which you never needed and sometimes his style takes over the film in such away that something from the story is lost. This however is the one bit of hope I've heard on Ripley's Believe It or Not. It really needed someone as wacky and original as Gondry for this film to have any hope in hell of not being a bore-fest.
