Spectre Is Shaping Up To Be Skyfall 2 In New TV Spot

"I think you're just getting started..."

With Sam Mendes back behind the camera and a story that jumps off from the previous film's climax, Spectre has felt as much like Skyfall 2 as it has Bond 24. And while it's sure to be its own distinct entry in the 007 canon, it's certainly been looking like the film will be continuing some of the biggest themes from the previous movie. This new TV spot only furthers that feeling. Unlike the main trailer's focus on the titular shadowy organisation, this looks more at Bond as a character, asking what motivates him (while not forgetting the classical fun of the series); "Why does a man choose the life of an assassin," asks Léa Seydoux's Madeleine Swann, to which Bond quips back "Well it was that or the priesthood." That exchange captures perfectly both the hollow nature of Bond's existence, but also his sly avoidance of it. Skyfall already set him up as a broken man with a tortured past and serious emotional problems, and hopefully Spectre will take that even further towards its dark conclusion. There's also a few shots of new footage in there of the movie's action (check out that shot of the helicopter flip with sound) - lest we forget this isn't just a meditation on masculinity. I couldn't be more excited to Spectre. Skyfall proved to be a high watermark for the series (it's even better than Goldfinger) and this looks to be taking everything that worked there and amping it up. Only just over a month to go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU2xwrwWaQQ Spectre is released on 26th October in the UK and 6th November in the US.
