Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Major Ways Spidey Will Be Different

How Tom Holland's web-slinger stands apart...

It's almost getting to boiling point in terms of the hype for Spider-Man: Homecoming, even if the release of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 has distracted somewhat from the forthcoming event of Spidey's real debut in the MCU. The excitement is well-placed too, given how long it's been since we had a great stand-alone Spider-Man movie, and the promise of how good the results of him returning to Marvel's control would supposedly be.

Thanks to Captain America: Civil War, we already have some idea of what to expect from Tom Holland's web-slinger: he's cocky, he's a nerd and he throws out quips just as much as he shoots webs. In that respect, he's a similar sort of character to what we've already seen from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's takes on the character (and to how he's typically written in the comics).

But similarities aren't all that important here. We've been trained already to expect a new take on the character, with Kevin Feige and director Jon Watts consciously promising something that won't retread where we've already been in Sam Raimi or Marc Webb's films. They're looking to make him fresh without inviting direct parallels and that should prove to be a pretty smart agenda, given how criticised The Amazing Spider-Man movies were for essentially regurgitating Raimi's work.

So the important question at this stage is easy enough: how will this version of the web-slinger be different to what we've seen before in Spider-Man movies?
