Spider-Man: Homecoming Will Be First Of A Trilogy, Says Tom Holland

The Marvel snipers are not happy with Tom Holland right now.

We're less than a month away from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, but talk is already turning to the future of the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel and Sony struck a deal to see Spider-Man - played by Tom Holland - appear in the MCU, starting with Captain America: Civil War before (web-)heading up his own solo movie.

Beyond that, Marvel chief Kevin Feige has confirmed we'll see Spidey in Avengers: Infinity War next year, and then Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) a year later. That, though, was as far as the deal went. Now, Holland has revealed that there are plans for a whole trilogy of MCU Spider-Man movies, telling AlloCine:

"There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man especially to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies… Yeah, there’ll be Spider-Man 2 and 3, it won’t be Homecoming 2 and 3."

After being asked to confirm if that was a scoop, the actor then replied: "Sorry, Marvel. Whoops," before pretending to be taken out by Marvel snipers.

It's not necessarily the biggest surprise, but it does mean Marvel and Sony will keep working together beyond the first sequel. It also means we could have a Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 (again, for lack of a better title) by 2021, if they wanted to keep him around high-school for the whole trilogy.
