SPIDER-MAN reboot in 3-D, coming July 3rd 2012

Sony Pictures have confirmed that theirSpider-Man reboot will be distributed in 3-D, and although it's kind of unclear in the press release - you can expect it to be shot with 3-D cameras ala Avatar and not tinkered with in post for 3-D like Clash of the Titans. That's just the status of the industry right now and we can thank James Cameron for that. The decision of course has been made because Avatar is creeping towards $2.5 BILLION worldwide and Sony, quite rightly believe a 3-D swinging superhero movie with an added eye-popping "wow factor" will bring in a whole new audience. This dear Marvel fans should remind you that the 3-D gimmick is not being used to enhance storytelling in any way shape or form, or to get your particular ass in the cinema, because they already have it - it's been used to attract the audience who saw Avatar but wouldn't usually see a Spider-Man movie. The studio has also announced a July 3rd 2012 release and it's kinda sad that they are happy to tell us everything about the movie, except which characters are going to be in it, who the villains are etc. BUT HEY - don't worry, it's gonna be in 3-D! That's all you need to know, right? Good luck to director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) who has been thrown straight into the deep end here.
