5. Benedict Cumberbatch's Performance

Star Trek Into Darkness One of the most intriguing aspects leading up to the release of Star Trek Into Darkness was the anticipation of Benedict Cumberbatch's performance as the primary villain. In viewing the film, Cumberbatch's portrayal is synonymous with the perception the audience had of him from watching the trailers. He is physically intimidating and a cold character not only due to his actions but through how he speaks. One look at Cumberbatch in this film is all it takes to realize how much of a threat he is. Cumberbatch, as Khan, strikes fear into those who oppose him through his actions and dialogue. Kirk, Spock and the rest of the members of the Enterprise witness the destruction Khan is capable of as the film progresses. One of the reasons this film is successful is because of the performances of the actors. Cumberbatch clearly excels at portraying a formidable villain.
