Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer: 5 Reasons You Should Be Excited

4. The Tone

If you are going to make a trilogy, you should always make your second movie the second act of a story, and the second act is where all the bad stuff always happens. This first trailer gives off a doom-laden atmosphere, if nothing else. It looks like the darkness referred to in the title is really going to be prevalent in this installment. That's a good thing, in my book. Just look at that other Star-related trilogy and its second entry, or The Godfather: when done right, casting an oppressively evil aura around the movie can make it the most memorable (and well received) in a franchise.
