Star Wars Episode 9: 8 Predictions For The Sequel's Title

Star Wars 9 will end Disney's Sequel Trilogy and the Skywalker Saga - but what will it be called?

The end of Star Wars is almost upon us. On December 20, 2019, we'll have the release of a film that not only wraps up Disney's Sequel Trilogy, but concludes the entire Skywalker Saga too.

That's a lot of pressure on one movie, and even more so after the divisive response to both The Last Jedi and Solo. J.J. Abrams is very much a crowd pleaser, and should know how to get most fans back onboard, but how do you bring a satisfying end to over 40 years of storytelling?

That's an issue that even extends to the title. While a trailer will arrive in April, a title reveal is expected from this month when principal photography comes to an end, but what will it be? It needs to tie into the saga as a whole, the new trilogy, and the themes of Episode IX itself.

It'll also most likely follow typical naming conventions, which means it'll be a little bit corny, mostly obvious in meaning but with another connotation perhaps layered underneath, be three or four words, and include a Star Wars 'word' in the title, much like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. There's always the potential for a curveball too, but based on where the story has gone so far, these are the best guesses for Episode IX's title.
