Star Wars Celebration is now in full swing in Chicago, and celebration is very much the operative word, because it's brought with it the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode IX.

The teaser dropped at the end of a panel hosted by Stephen Colbert, which featured director J.J. Abrams, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and most of the main cast, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac.

Even by Abrams' standards, there's been a lot of secrecy around Episode IX, with even the title being withheld. Now, however, the marketing is in full swing with a teaser that is extremely heavy on the intrigue and mystery. It features most of the characters you'd expect, and some you don't, and conveys quite a different tone from the Celebration teaser for The Force Awakens. There, it was all about showing Star Wars was back, whereas this feels like something less beholden to that.

It doesn't give a great deal away in terms of overarching narrative or character journeys, but there are nevertheless some absolutely HUGE talking points. Check out the trailer below for the 1,138th time, and then let's dive into what it all means.
