Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - 8 Reasons It Will Be The Best Yet

Cover

The biggest film of all time was probably Return of the Jedi. Before that it was The Empire Strikes Back. And before that it was Star Wars. Well know there's a new kid coming to town.

Next year sees the release of the fourth Star Wars film and the first chronologically (finally explaining the name change of the original to Episode IV: A New Hope). Information is still relatively thin on the ground at the moment, but with the wonders of the Internet, we're able to get up to date info in this much anticipated film. Even though we're yet to get a trailer or even a poster, movie genius George Lucas has let slip enough key facts about his latest masterpiece for us to excitably theorize just what will arrive in cinemas come May next year.

A lot of prequel discussion has devolved into fanboy contradictions; thoughts that go against what was speculated just moments before. Here we plan to take a step back from that and present a measured and thoughtful look at why Episode I has to be the best Star Wars yet.

8. CGI Characters

CGI

If there€™s one thing that has dated the original classics it has been the technology of the time. Back then, if you were going to create monsters from beyond the stars you needed extensive make up which looked questionable at best. Now with photorealistic CGI we can create fully realistic worlds to put up on the screen.

The big CGI character of Episode 1 (and assumedly the whole trilogy) is Jar Jar Binks. We know little of this amphibian character, but Lucas has hinted that he is the series first fully comic character.

Obviously CGI is added after the film is completed, so we€™re yet to see any of this ourselves, but if the work done on the Special Editions is anything to go by it€™ll look sumptuous. This was the main reason Lucas decided to make the prequels now, so he must have something incredible in store.
