Star Wars: The Force Awakens Ending - 10 Implications For Episode VIII

8. A Bigger Role For Snoke

Andy Serkis' latest motion capture performance split some fans rather noticeably: the whole giant alien with a projector shtick is a complex point to accept after all. Accusations flew that he looks too much like Voldemort, or is just generally too cartoonish, but there was more than enough in his mysterious role that suggests he will be the key villainous presence in Episodes VIII and IX. Is he a new version of Darth Plagueis? There was certainly an Easter Egg hinting at that, but die-hard fans seem - oddly - to want the sequels to avoid the nostalgia that added so much to Episode VIII and go in a wholly new direction. In truth though, the Plagueis approach would be the best (and would explain that almighty scar on his forehead), and it would add relevance to the villain as a bigger potential threat than even Darth Sidious. It just remains to be seen whether that's the plan.
