21. Rey

The trailer opens up with a shot of Rey - but it's not what you'd necessarily expect. Instead of being happy to be united with her hero, she's looking very worse for wear.

A breathless Daisy Ridley looks visibly stunned and panicked, and it immediately throws you off and let's you know that Rian Johnson isn't playing safe here. Also worth noting is that the first Force Awakens teaser opened with Finn gasping for breath, and this one mirrors it with Rey.

Of course, this is her undergoing training from Luke, but it looks a little more taxing than carrying around Yoda in a backpack (and yet clearly still 'rhyming' with The Empire Strikes Back and Luke's own training). Ridley spoke at the Celebration panel about how meeting your heroes doesn't always go as you'd expect, and that's apparent here.

I also quite like that it opened with a shot of a hand, after the idea of Luke's hand floating through space was mooted as the opening for The Force Awakens. It's almost certainly not a deliberate mirroring, unless Rey loses a hand in the movie (...), but it's cool nonetheless.
