The Force has awakened once more, and with four little words, the universe of Star Wars has potentially been changed irrevocably. In the matter of a couple of days, "the Jedi must end" has become a meme and a vehicle for devastating anxiety for millions of Star Wars fans.

The question of what it all means will now take over every The Last Jedi discussion until December 15th, and while it definitely won't be as simple as it initially seems (is it ever in this franchise?) the prospect of such a major evolution in the series' mythology is plainly stunning.

That alone is a fairly big indication of how well the first teaser for Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi landed out of Star Wars Celebration. And the fact that the entire Internet seems to be talking about the short trailer, its mysteries and its ramifications is another.

At this stage, it's almost impossible to put aside the whys and whats of the trailer, but it's definitely worthwhile reviewing exactly how the teaser did so well, and perhaps where it could have done better.
