Suicide Squad Officially Won Comic Con

Apparently spoiler-filled trailers are an easy winner.

Being a comic book movie fan at times is a very binary existence. You either loved Batman v Superman or you hated it. You either love the idea of Jared Leto as the Joker or you despise it. You're either DC or you're Marvel. There's no middle ground for some.

So with that in mind, it's no surprise that people tend to distil events like Comic Con down into a battle. Who won: Marvel or DC? Who emerged victorious? It's actually a point that studios as well as fans are interested in, but it's rare you get anything other than subjective evaluations.

Luckily though, there are companies like ListenFirst Media who compile reports taking in social media metrics, search traffic and Wikipedia views to work out which films picked up the biggest jumps in tangible hype over the course of the event. It's not exactly A Beautiful Mind, but by checking those figures before and after the event, they suggest a picture of lift and popularity.

According to the data, as shared by Variety), Suicide Squad was the winner with a 548k score. That might, of course, have something to do with proximity, but it's still a badge of honour DC and Warner Bros can hold onto. Even if their latest trailer is horribly spoilerific.

The rest of the top ten were rounded out as follows: Wonder Woman (366k), Justice League (295k), Kong: Skull Island (109k), Doctor Strange(87k), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (79k). Game of Thrones (163k) and Mr. Robot (152k) were the biggest TV winners.

It's unlikely it's the kind of thing that studios are going to start putting on their posters, but still, it's a nice reflection of audience engagement all the same.
