Suicide Squad: The Joker Has A Tubby Batman Cosplay Side-Kick

Plus putting out cigarettes on your arms with Jai Courtney.

Empire's new issue is dedicated to Suicide Squad with a lovely new cover (and an even better subscribers one), and within the covers, David Ayer has revealed some intriguing new details about the film.

Most comically, the director has revealed that the Joker's gang of hoodlums (seen in the trailers wearing masks and helmets in various colourful shapes and sizes) will include 'a tubby cosplay Batman,''a devil goat and a sea urchin.' Because nothing says mentally deranged like employing a sea urchin to do your bidding...

He also revealed that he dreamt up The Adversary's minions, recounting a dream that featured 'a black pool of liquid with a human shape rising out of it... all shiny and covered with liquid.' Stop eating cheese before bed, it works a treat. He turned that image - a figure covered in frogspawn-like eyes into the first design for the Eyes Of The Adversary and the rest is gloopy history.

The magazine also explores some of the "method" techniques the actors used to get into the right frame of mind. We already know about some of those techniques - like Will Smith reading about psycho killers - but we now also know that Ayer told Cara Delevingne to 'go to the forest alone at night, under the full moon, and become like an animal.'

I'm not throwing shade here, but has anyone, like, checked if David Ayer is alright?

Jai Courtney also revealed that his first meeting with the director ended with him having his head shaved, and then later after taking some mushrooms he self-inflicted some cigarette burns to help prepare himself. What on Earth is the world coming to?
