Terminator: Genisys Trailer Breakdown - 36 Things You Need To See

He said he'd be back.

Despite all of the concerns about the misspelled title, the involvement of an ageing Arnold Schwarzenegger and fundamental suspicions that Salvation might have killed the franchise, the Terminator Genisys trailer has just blown away some serious cobwebs. Dripping with as any franchise nods and fan service as there are suggested set-pieces, the teaser is a lesson in building hype from the ground up, and showing just enough leg to entice without compromising every element. And for all of the information on show, some questions crucially still remain. As predicted in some quarters, the film looks to be the Terminator equivalent of Days Of Future Past: we're introduced to a dystopian future, a time travel element and an alternate timeline where the hero is forced to make sure destiny is realised. And that looks to have been the smartest decision Paramount and Game Of Thrones' Alan Taylor could possibly have made. He said he'd be back, and boy was he not joking...

36. Future Past

A dystopian future not dissimilar to the alternate (and ultimately avoided) future timeline in X-Men: Days Of Future Past: even the reveal of the ships presumably prowling the wastelands feels very familiar.
