Thank God, The First Reactions To Solo: A Star Wars Story Are Positive

Never tell me the odds.

To say Solo: A Star Wars Story has had a troubled production is like saying Han Solo is an ok pilot and a bit of a rogue.

Lucasfilm infamously fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller after they'd shot around 80% the movie, with Ron Howard stepping in to complete things but ultimately reshooting pretty much the entire thing, while still hitting the May 25 release date.

As that time approaches, the film has had its world premiere and the first reactions are starting to trickle out. And there's a reason you should never tell Han the odds, because they're almost all positive.

The general consensus seems to be that the movie takes a while to get going, but once it finds its feet - and Donald Glover's Lando turns up - it turns into a fun, thrilling adventure with an excellent cast.

The full review embargo breaks on Tuesday, when we'll no doubt get some more nuanced takes and hear a bit more detail to its issues, but it's undoubtedly a relief to see such positive reactions for a movie that lots of people had a bad feeling about.
