When I first heard that Electro was rumoured to be the villain in The Amazing Spider Man 2, I was absolutely psyched. Why? Electro is my favourite Spider Man villain of all time, and I have always wanted to see him in a movie. Not a lot of people agree with me on this issue though, and they see Electro as more of a second tier villain. Now, that is completely true, Electro isn't as well known a Spidey villain for the non comic readers. But maybe that is why he should be featured in the next Amazing Spider Man movie...
5. It Is Too Soon To Start Re-Using Villains
The Amazing Spider Man already showed us The Lizard in his feature film debut, and his reaction was mixed. I personally thought he was okay but perhaps a bit too evil for the Lizard character. Now, when the movie came out, people immediately started debating who the next villain would be and/or who the next villain should be. Names thrown around were Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Venom, Sandman, wait. Am I the only one getting a sense of deja vu here? With the reboot of Spider Man coming quite soon, it is too soon to start re using these characters. You can argue that The Green Goblin needs to appear at some point in the franchise, as he is the archenemy of Spider Man, and that is like doing a Batman film series without The Joker. Electro has never been used in a movie before, so it will be something new instead of just recycling someone else.
