The Amazing Spider-Man Earns $59.3 Million in First Two Days
Sony have now upped their original estimates for the film's first six days of release to $120-130 million or more.
The Amazing Spider-Man opened in the US and UK this week and has already managed to earn $59.3 million domestic in its first two days in cinemas. Sony's web-slinging reboot broke an all-time record for a Tuesday opener with $35 million made on its opening day. On its second day, the film grossed $23.4 million which is the second biggest ever July 4th gross behind Michael Bay's Transformers. Spider-Man 2 made $22 million on 4th of July in 2004, although that total was actually on the film's fourth day of release and does not account for eight years worth of inflation or higher 3D ticket prices. Internally Sony Pictures have now upped their original estimates for the film's first six days of release to $120-130 million or more.
