The Batman: 10 Actors Who Should Replace Ben Affleck

Who will play the Dark Knight for Matt Reeves' DC movie?

It's once again time to find another Batman.

Five actors have played the character since Tim Burton's Batman in 1989, but with Ben Affleck now definitely out of Matt Reeves' upcoming solo film on the character, there now needs to be a sixth.

In fairness, this has been a long time coming: the writing for Affleck's departure has been on the wall since he stepped down as director in January 2017, with Reeves replacing him just a month later and looking to put his own spin on things. Since then there's been a lot of hearsay about what Reeves wants and whether Affleck would be involved, but now we at least know the Batman v Superman star won't return.

As for what Reeves wants, that's slightly murkier. We do know for certain that he's planning on a noir-ish tale that really puts the focus on Batman as the World's Greatest Detective, a key aspect of the character the movies haven't really gotten into. It's also been widely reported he wants someone a fair bit younger than Affleck (who's 46), and most like ranging from 25-35, so we're mostly sticking to that sort of age range here. Other than that, anyone is under consideration to don the cape and cowl.
