Anyone got Ridley Scott's number?

Just when you thought Warner Bros had stemmed the tide of concern in the wake of Ben Affleck's departure from the director's chair on The Batman, it seems we're back at square one.

Just a week after The Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves was said to be taking over directorial duties on The Batman, THR are saying talks have broken down. They say negotiations could continue if there are concessions on both sides.

Luckily, the report is firm to note that Warner Bros are committed to making the movie no matter who directs. Let's just hope they can make the right hire.

So, what do they do now?

THR initially reported that Sir Ridley Scott was also in the running and could be an option if the deal for Reeves didn't come off. He's not the only option but he now looks like the right one.

To put it very plainly, Warner Bros need a big name director to step in for Affleck and they couldn't get bigger than the Alien director.

He's also the kind of visionary who fans could get behind as a beacon of hope. His CV speaks for itself and he's still making exceptional films as the delightful The Martian proved.
