"No one's talked to me about it, I would love it. I actually, its so embarrassing, I was at a press Q & A thing the other night for a screening of The Dark Knight, and the moderator asked me, So what was it like to say goodbye to the character? And I burst into tears, because I miss her, she confessed. It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selena so much and I love her presence in my life and getting to Im crying again. She went on to say, So assuming there was enough Kleenex in the world, I would love to do a spin-off.In July, Access Hollywood also spoke to The Dark Knight Rises writer/director Chris Nolan, who all but gave his blessing for Hathaway to reprise her leather-clad role:
Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. Shes really built it from the ground up, its just a delight to watch her perform. The things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly."Although Nolan was careful to quell any indication that he himself might direct said spin-off, he did say that he thinks Hathaway should definitely reprise the role, under the wing of another director. He added:
I certainly think she deserves it, shes incredible. The last Catwoman stand-alone movie was the disastrous 2004 spin-off starring Halle Berry. Michelle Pfeiffer had previously immortalised the character in Tim Burton's Batman Returns over a decade earlier. Catwoman's place in The Dark Knight Rises split fans roughly down the middle, with some lauding her as the greatest Catwoman ever caught on film and others arguing that her presence in the movie was unjustified. Indeed, the idea of a dedicated spin-off will likely split public opinion once again. The Dark Knight Rises made $1.8 billion at the global box-office but a spin-off is not guaranteed as WB are currently in talks with several directors over a Justice League team-up film, rumoured for release in 2015.
