The Dark Knight Rises Won't Be Four Hours Long

Rumours that Nolan's first cut of the film shown to Warner Bros executives went four hours long are false.

Apparently there has been some rumours circling across the web that Chris Nolan's first screening of The Dark Knight Rises to Warner Bros executives was made up of a four hour long cut! I got so many emails about the rumour yesterday (the first few I dismissed as nonsense as we get a lot of those regarding the Batman franchise, some even still suggesting that Aaron Eckhart's villain Two Face is still alive and will turn up in the new movie!!) that I did some hunting and it appears the rumour caught fire at MTV where a joke was taken too literally. In a write up about the rumour that The Dark Knight Rises will premiere at this July's San Diego Comic Con (as we said, a lot of rumours about these movies!), an MTV author wrote that editing for The Dark Knight Rises was €œpresumably in the form of a four-hour rough cut.€ This was picked up by so many websites that it went viral but thankfully the author of the piece has tweeted to clear up the confusion; I imagine that Nolan's first cut for The Dark Knight Rises will probably be closer to 3 hours long, which he will now be editing down to a more manageable two and a half hours or so. Nolan went pretty long with The Dark Knight Rises that ran for 152 minutes and I imagine you can expect something similar from the new film which hits July 20th, 2012.
