12. Sam Elliot

More specifically than the general Western and frontier film references, Sam Elliott is basically a walking Easter Egg. His character feels like an amalgamation of every Elliott cowboy performance, and the despite definitely looking like a TRex, there's definitely something of his physical appearance in there. The most obvious reference is in Butch's teeth, which are set up consciously to mimic Elliott's iconic moustache, and the character talks through them the same way the actor does. It's a very clever little tic. And of course, there's another Elliott Easter Egg link: the "the storm provides" mantra is suspiciously close to "the dude abides" from The Big Lebowski, as numerous fans of The Good Dinosaur have noted.
