It looks like we have our first major casting news announcement for Jon Favreau's The Lion King live action remake.

The Jungle Book and Iron Man director has just tweeted confirmation that Hollywood favourite Donald Glover is set to play Simba.

This is just the latest in a string of big moves for Glover who also has Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Han Solo movie coming out under Disney's wide umbrella.

And it pretty much goes without saying that he's a great hire for the movie.

Favreau also just revealed that James Earl Jones is also going to be playing Mufasa once more. As if anyone could have replaced him...

It's probably fair to say that The Lion King adaptation is one of the more controversial of Disney's live action slates, given how beloved the original, but at least they're making positive strides. Favreau is the biggest draw, given what he did with The Jungle Book and now this news is another smart move.

Let's just hope they do the smart thing and hire ajeremy Irons for Scar...
