The old Dr. McCoy was never so lucky!

I can imagine the male role in the remake of the obscure 70's British horror/thriller AND SOON THE DARKNESS became much sought after when possibly the two most beautiful young creatures on the planet, Amber Heard and Cam Gigdanet annouced they were leading the project. Who wouldn't want to spend a few months with those two hotties? And if you want 100% evidence that the times aren't what they used to be... it's been reported by Empire that Karl Urban, aka Dr. McCoy from the upcoming STAR TREK reboot has been cast in the male role. It's funny that those things never used to happen to DeForest Kelly, did they? urboqhr3p

Set in Argentina, €œDarkness€ tells the story of two American girls on a bike-riding trip in a remote part of the country. When one of them goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized. The original was set in France and tackled the idea of how vulnerable a stranger in a strange land can be.
Movie sounds a lot like the recent trend of toursim gone bad movies (WOLF CREEK, HOSTEL) and also shares a lot of the themes from the classic 80's horror THE VANISHING, one of my favourites actually. We are yet to hear if Urban will play either the good or bad guy, but we know he can do both. BABEL Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza has also joined the cast. The movie, retitled to THE DARKNESS, is shooting in Argentina.
