33. Planet 51 (2009)

Planet 51
TriStar Pictures

Though on paper the idea of Johnson lending his voice to an animated film sounds like a match made in heaven, this lame romp settles for the easy joke every time, squandering a sci-fi comedy premise rife with satirical potential.

Johnson plays Chuck Baker, a goofball American astronaut who unknowingly lands on Planet 51, a planet inhabitated by green alien creatures whose civilisation closely resembles that of 1950s America.

Even with the intriguing setting and fairly unique concept, the characters are dull and lifeless, the humour is incredibly base, and the animation is totally unremarkable. At least it certainly didn't harm Johnson's career, because who even remembers this one?
