The Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending Plot Revealed

Andy and Lana Wachowski (creators of The Matrix franchise) are back with their first original movie since "The Matrix Revolutions" in 2003.

Andy and Lana Wachowski (creators of The Matrix franchise) are back with their first original movie since "The Matrix Revolutions" in 2003. They've since adapted Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta" as producers, wrote and directed a "Speed Racer" film, and are currently finishing post production on their novel adaptation "Cloud Atlas". The Wachowski's have an upcoming original sci-fi film lined up entitled "Jupiter Ascending", something being referred to as a return to form for the duo. Vulture posted a detailed plot summary for their latest opus, which sounds more familiar than anyone was expecting. It takes place in a universe where;
€œhuman beings are just the Cro-Magnons, or even the Australopithecines, of what beings can ultimately go on to become in the galaxy. (These) higher forms of life are watching us from other, albeit this time non-meta worlds, but actual, other worlds, as in planets and moons. These evolved beings fall into various different groups, all of which share some human DNA but who have become evolved after being bred with animal DNA to heighten their best characteristics €” e.g., soldiers getting their fearlessness, strength, and a pack mentality from wolves; workers getting their industriousness and reputation for diligence from bees."
The actual plot follows a recent Russian immigrant (played by Mila Kunis) who is nothing more important than a janitor, but she carries a secret. She possesses the same genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe, which threatens the Queen's immortal rule. The Queen catches wind of the fairest of them all, er, the girl with the threatening genetic makeup and calls upon a bounty hunter (played by Channing Tatum) with genetically enhanced DNA to dispose of her. As this mission unfolds however, the hunter falls in love with the unassuming girl, which causes quite a few problems for his job security and the two must protect their lives together. Not only that, but this is meant to kick off a trilogy of sci-fi Snow White Jupiter Ascending films. None of the cast has been confirmed yet, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also rumored to be up for an undisclosed role. The film is set for an unspecified 2014 release from Warner Brothers and is expected to begin filming later this year. Will the Wachowskis captivate audiences again like they did with "The Matrix" or "V for Vendetta" or will this turn into another Speed Racer? Only time will tell, and more information on "Jupiter Ascending" will surely be released soon.
