The Wolverine, a Japanese set film based on the popular character from the original X-Men film trilogy, is due for release in July. It is based on the highly acclaimed original Wolverine miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. Although it is said to be based on the original miniseries, it also includes influences from the followup stories in Uncanny X-Men 172 & 173 with the inclusion of Silver Samurai and Viper as villains.
This film is a very important one for Fox Studios. It is the second solo outing for Wolverine following the poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is also the first film to be a direct continuation of the story from X-Men: The Last Stand, and will lead into the next X-Men film Days of Future Past to be released in 2014.
The Wolverine himself Hugh Jackman has gone on record to say that in his previous five outings as Wolverine, he didn’t fully understand the passion for the character. In this outing as Wolverine he plans to completely live up to the character and legacy.
Comic book fans around the world are hoping that Jackman does live up to the Wolverine in this film. Here are 10 things from the comics that we want to see in The Wolverine.

Good list, but I don’t expect to see any of these things, except for maybe one or two of them, actually happen in the movie. The ones I see happening are Wolverine vs Shingen, and the Silver Samurai fight.
It’s amazing to me that how far the Superhero genre has come since its inception 70 years ago.
and wherever we go from here things are going to be fun.
It certainly is exciting times for superhero films. CG has finally gotten to a stage to do most things believably and it has been proven that you can make money while still adhering to the spirit of the source material.
Wolverine vs Shingen and vs Silver Samurai are pretty much certain. Also likely that Shingen will beat him in the first encounter. I can remember reading early articles about The Wolverine and how he gets beaten by normal humans. I still really want a proper version of Yukio. There is no reason why that can’t happen.
A sentinel showing up at the wedding would be awesome. The start of a future that must be erased in Days of Future Past. Maybe The Last Stand too. I wasn’t a fan of that one. And yes to Rogue showing up near the end as well. Except for Mastermind this is a fine list.
Thanks Lt. Kroker.
I mentioned Mastermind not because I want him in the film, but because he was in the comics.
If Rogue doesn’t get some powers and a chance to fight in this film it is very likely that she will in Days of Future Past. Anna Paquin is confimed to return in that film.
