Theron and Jones for "The Garden of Elah"

CharlizeTh_Pimen_5913099.jpgCrash writer and director Paul Haggis is in talks with Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron to star in his next movie The Garden of Elah (formely titled In The Valley of Elah). The movie is based on a written article found in Playboy magazine titled "Death and Dishonor" which was quickly picked up by Warner Brothers to be made into a feature. More info from Coming Soon... "Jones will play a career soldier whose son mysteriously goes AWOL, shortly after returning to the U.S. from the front lines in Iraq. Theron will play a local police detective who helps him get to the bottom of the soldier's disappearance". Strangely enough I saw Steven Spielberg's first feature Duel yesterday which was also based on an article written in Playboy magazine. Funny where movie ideas come from. I didn't mind Crash but I still can't get over how that movie won the best picture oscar over Cinderella Man and especially Walk the Line. Yes his movies carry important and serious messages but it just seems so contrived and relentless that by the movie's end I'm sick of what his message is. source - variety, coming soon
