12. The Grandmaster

So there we have it, the first real look at Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, the man reportedly behind the Gladiatorial games that eventually see Thor and Hulk facing off in the arena.

Though he's definitely a villain, he doesn't look quite as malevolent as he does flamboyant: more like a New Romantic from the 1980s than someone nefarious. But then, that does fit the image of a character whose primary interest is his own entertainment, without thought for the consequences to his "victims". He's a ring-master, and this look absolutely fits with the image Goldblum himself painted in an interview with Empire:

He’s a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker. He’s an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells. I thought, ‘I can do that, I’ll bet!’ I’m working on my part every day. I’m a sponge, researching. [Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I hope he doesn’t throw me out on the first day!

Sounds like we're in for a treat, Goldblum fans.

The painted on blue soul patch make-up is obviously also an allusion to the characters look in the comics without having to go full Smurf...

You'll notice also that while his outfit looks a similar general shape to the comic version, the collar is significantly lower on the Flock Of Seagulls scale.
