Tom Hardy Nominated For BAFTA's Rising Star Award!

Despite playing a Star Trek villain nine years ago in a major Paramount film production and who this time last year SURELY should have been nominated (hell, he could have been Oscar shortlisted) for his lead role in Bronson - British actor Tom Hardy leads the shortlist of nominations for The Orange Wednesday Rising Star Award, described as "a unique BAFTA, in that the winner is voted for by the public". Hardy, whose flamboyant role in Inception, I guess, has finally caught the radar of Orange, is joined by new Spider-Man co-stars Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) and Emma Stone (Easy A), Kick-Ass and Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson and Brit beauty Gemma Arterton. Again, as tough as it is to think Arterton, who has already been a Bond girl, starred as the major love interest in two of last year's biggest blockbusters (Prince of Persia, Clash of the Titans) could be thought of as a rising star, I guess her placement isn't as bad as Hardy's. Instead the winner was deemed Kristen Stewart, no doubt helped by the Twilighters. Visit www.orange.co.uk/bafta and decide the winner, though I'm not sure with the lucrative offers coming the way of any of these guys (especially Hardy) that they even need this award. Well done BAFTA, you are three years behind the pack as usual.
