What was the greatest aspect of the DVD revolution? Was it the crisper and more detailed than ever before picture? Was it the enhanced sound that made you almost feel like you were in the cinema? No, for many the greatest stride for forward-thinking technology advancements was a pause button that actually worked. No chewing up of the tape of yesteryear, distorted images be gone! It gave us a clear freeze framed picture of the action for inspection at our erm… leisure.
But do we actually use it to study the beautiful framing and composition of some golden moments in cinema history? Lovefilm decided to run a poll to find out what moments were the most popular and it comes as no surprise that lady bits top the list along with nods to geek favourite moments and easter eggs. The scene with Captain America’s shield in the background is from Iron Man (2008). In Iron Man 2, Agent Coulson blatantly holds the shield up and talks about it, and I don’t think many people need to pause the movie to see it.
Jamie Lee has been getting paused for quite a few decades and if the movie was on now I would pause and replay out of respect.

I was totally waiting to see that one! So pissed! It should have been #1. I remember as a kid pausin that and the upside down rifle scene. Just recently I have seen a blown up view of the window wih better technology and it is indeed the cut out of Ted Danson.

Two of my favorites when I was a teenager (back in the day of VHS) were Erika Eleniak jumping out of the cake in Under Seige and Beverly D’angelo in the shower in National Lampoon’s Vacation.
I never knew about the pac man scene in Tron. Makes me want to watch Tron.
What about the exploding head scene in scanners?
Yeah, Scanners! So crazy, so difficult to pause at that exact moment on VHS.
Wild Things, the shower scene when Kevin Bacon turned around I was like, “What’s that dangling thing? Is that…? Oh my!” Hehe.
For me, it was Princess Leia in her slave costume escaping with Luke. How was that not mentioned by anyone yet??

How about scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the French guy (Belloq??) is trying to persuade Indy not to blast the ark with a rocket launcher. As he’s talking a Fly wanders straight into his mouth, he doesn’t even flinch….
I used pause on the scene in Meet Joe Black where Brad Pitt is mowed down by a car to step through it frame by frame. Probably doesn’t belong on this list as much as on a “Most Rewinded Scene” list.
Marvin getting shot in the face in Pulp Fiction was a pause/rewind/slo-mo moment with me and my friends.
Nicole Kidman has a flash scene in that film about two lovers in a boat who find a castaway.. Dead Calm.. she used to have some nice butt back then.. also the scene from body snatchers by abel ferrara in which the main character played by a beautiful Gabrielle Anwar is snatched.. gorgeous girl…
