There’s no doubt about it now: Christmas is nearly upon us! This new collaboration between the Basement Talk podcast and What Culture sought out to not just tackle the Christmas season, but winter in general.
For many, the holidays are heralded in with cold winter nights, snow days, and frosty films of chilly importance.
This podcast in particular is a list of our top 5 cold weather films. Instead of just listing your standard top 5 Christmas classics, we decided to take a more original path. Christmas films of course were not excluded from the list, but they did not consume our focus.
From the way weather plays a character itself in the film, to just downright snow filled frames, this podcast is sure to make you shiver in the most positive way imaginable! Enjoy!

Weather is driven by air pressure (temperature and moisture) differences between one place and another. These pressure and temperature differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot, which varies by latitude from the tropics. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the mid-latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones, are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow. ”
