Watch Christian Bale's Original Batman Audition In Val Kilmer's Batsuit

The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector's Edition releases in the US tomorrow (with a UK release following on October 7th), and to give those on the fence a taster of some of the supplementary material comprising the epic six-disc set, Warner Home Entertainment have released a very special clip, of Christian Bale's audition video, kitted out in Val Kilmer's old batsuit and reading opposite Amy Adams (who was there as a favour to a producer). Bale's performance here isn't very different from what we see in the final film, and director Christopher Nolan makes it clear that he and others involved with casting were pretty much blown away by Bale's take on the character. To see Bale's make-or-break moment, the two minutes that helped define his career ever since, is fascinating, and ensures that this new box-set isn't just going to be a lazily cobbled together stew of extra features we've already seen. Other features we can't wait to sink our teeth into include interviews with Guillermo Del Toro, Damon Lindelof, Michael Mann, Richard Roeper and Zack Snyder, as well as a sit-down between Nolan and Superman director Richard Donner, as they discuss the difficulties in bringing iconic superheroes to the big screen. In addition to this, the set also comes with Premium Mattel Hot Wheels toys of the Tumbler and Batpod, and a 48-page book boasting never-before-seen production stills from all three movies. We can't wait to sink our teeth into this box set, the definitive home video collection of Nolan's masterful trilogy.
