Weisz's replacement in The Mummy has A History of Violence!

john_5877243_max.jpgMaria Bello will be the actress who replaces Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy 3. If you don't know who Bello is... shame on you! She is the mighty fine actress who appeared in A History of Violence, Assault on Precinct 13 and World Trade Center among other things. Well I like her as an actress, but has she got it in her to play a light-hearted comedic role in a big budget adventure movie? It's not something she has done before in her career, so the question has to be there. Lots of changes are in store for this Mummy film. Is it the best thing that could happen for this sequel after The Mummy Returns was such a hugely disappointing film? Or are the changes in the cast, setting, director and story going to be to much? Can't help but feel Bello has signed a no-win contract on this one. First off, she's gonna have a hard time replacing Rachel Weisz who was so perfect the role in the franchise and second, everyone is expecting this baby to flop (It's been a while since I've seen a movie make as many bad decisions in pre-production as this one) so doing this high profile movie might not help her on that front either. Thoughts on the casting? Is Rachel Weisz important to The Mummy franchise, or is she easily expendable?
