SPOILER ALERT
Multiple news outlets are reporting that Cillian Murphy has been spotted on the set of The Dark Knight Rises in Los Angeles today, and in doing so answers one of the most frequently asked questions I keep on hearing regarding the new Batman film. YES it now indeed looks like Scarecrow is making a comeback and is terrorising Gotham again!
The last time we saw Dr. Jonathan Crane’s villainous alter ego was in an early sequence of The Dark Knight when a mob deal went wrong and he was captured by Batman and imprisoned (he had been on the run since the end of Batman Begins). But we all kind of figured he would make a comeback at some point and now we can presume he breaks out of Arkham Asylum when Bane causes a prison riot!
More info when we get it on this one. I wonder if someone has managed to take some snaps of the actor on set today?
P.S. – I have said from day one that I believe when the Arkham breakout occurs, a character, probably a cop will mention that The Joker has escaped. I’m not saying The Joker will appear in the film or that we will hear his voice. In fact I’m saying that definitely won’t happen but I do believe they will make reference to the fact that he is no longer locked up, leaving the door well and truly open for a new re-casting under a new director if he wants to use The Clown Prince of Crime.

YES. Scarecrow is back. Although.. not that i’m complaining but why is his character in all 3 movies. he didn’t have a big roll in the dark knight so i guess its ok. But i don’t think they should over use an amazing villain. However it would make sense for him to be in this one because bane frees all the inmates. It was pointless to put him in The Dark Knight. At least there is a good reason that he would be in this movie!!
yeah, Bane frees all the inmates but what about the joker? it’ll be interesting to see how they deal with his character
duh. sorry, didn’t read the whole article before i posted that lol
I heard somewhere a rumor that there is some unused Arkham/Joker footage left over from The Dark Knight that Nolan has considered using in Rises. I can only hope this is true, and if so it would seem that it could work well with the scenes described above.
I they thought they said no deleted scenes were on The Dark Knight
I hope that Nolan actually uses Scarecrow correctly for once. First he was a just minor villian then he was reduced even further to a pointless cameo.
If you didn’t notice Scarecrow was a minor villain because Ra’s Al Ghul was the Main Villain in batman begins,
I’m guessing you’re a Ra’s Al Ghul Hater.
That wasn’t Ras Al Ghul, that was some pathetic little man who lost his wife who had a tired revenge motive. The REAL Ras Al Ghul was a god-like cult figure who is beyound death and who’s resources that could put James Bond villians to shame.
it was him you moron. hes back in this one because he is invincible. pay attention.
Woohoo!!!! TDKR is now complete – The best Batman villain!!!
Cillian Murphy absolutely kills in this role so I’m hoping he gets a quick shot, maybe utilizing his hallucinogen? I loved those sequences in Batman Begins.
Your joker prediction is pretty loose. I doubt they’ll touch on the joker at all in this film. And btw, they don’t have to do anything for future dirctors, Nolan’s batman stands alone and future batman films are going to be a reboot and not set int the same world.
Sure that was the plan at one stage but Warner Bros/DC change their minds every day. That’s why they struggle to get anything organised on screen.
Hmm.. I really don’t care if they recast the Joker, as long as whoever the actor is can pull it off with the same feeling as Heath Ledger did. Some people try to say that his performance was overrated due to his death, but I disagree. Once he’s on screen, he is not Heath Ledger, he’s the Joker, period. If someone else can pull this character off, then I say give them their chance. To leave the Joker out of this film wouldn’t make sense from the cinematographic standpoint. Also, I think his cameo appearance was planned so that you know he’s in Arkham. One thing that the other batman films fell into was taking things for granted:
“Where’s the Joker?”
“Silly goose, you know he’s in Arkham” /Trollface
It was probably Nolan’s plan from the beginning to bring Scarecrow back as a much stronger villain than before, or to imply later on that Arkham has driven him even more crazy than before and that he’ll be the Scarecrow that we all love to hate by the end of the film. Idk. [/rant]
*cinematic, maybe? Idk.. It’s 5 am, I haven’t slept yet, muh mind is goooooone..
I hope they do bring the Joker back in at least for a little in this film. He is too large of a villian to just erase for the sake of one actor. Yes, Heath Ledger did an amazing job and I loved his joker. However, just because he was great, doesn’t mean nobody else should get the chance.
My theory is since this batman movie will involve the past (before batman begins) it will explain the back story of joker..gordon levit is on this movie and it would make perfect sense if he was cast as the man who later on became the joker. I think in reality joker is the main villain in batman nolan’s twisted vision of joker could be expounded, what if he was the person responsible for creating bane.. he was responsible for two face in tdk right?? hehe im getting goose bumps just thinking about it.
Hey bojo respect other peoples’ opinions! The last thing the internet needs is more trolls like you who sadly get off on pissing off other people. The internet is for mature folks, and trolling is both sad and immature.
