Will Smith's Deadshot Rumoured For Solo Batman Film

Suicide Squad star "wants to be an ongoing part of Warner's and DC's plans".

Latino Review are reporting that plans are being drawn up to include Will Smith's rendition of Deadshot into Ben Affleck's solo Batman outing, rumoured for a few years from now. As Smith is already signed on to appear in multiple films for Warner Bros/DC (as is the norm these days), it's not the craziest idea to have one of those appearances be in one of their biggest upcoming tentpole releases. The initial word from insider sources is that Will Smith is "psyched" to be a part of a huge superhero canvas like DC's, and "wants to be an ongoing part of Warner's and DC's plans". Kellvin Chavez at LR is keen to note that it's only if things pan out in the negotiation stage that the solo Batman film "might not end up being so solo", considering Smith's pedigree and desire for a major role. An intriguing tidbit about this new plan is to have the film take on a kind-of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly mould, which honestly fits with the rumours that the storyline is mooted to be Under the Red Hood, or at least based on it. That all makes perfect sense to me, as Batman would be the good, Deadshot would be the bad, and Jason Todd/Red Hood would be the ugly... especially if it ultimately turns out that Jared Leto's Joker isactually Jason Todd. Sounds like a great idea for a film, once you get over the fact that DC are playing fast and loose with the source material. Suicide Squad is released on 5 August 2016. The Untitled Solo Batman Movie currently has no release date set, but expect it to be around 2018/19.
