10. CGI Inanity
Let me get this out of the way first as I feel it's one of the burning issues. Did Hollywood learn nothing from the audience reactions to I Am Legend's CGI monsters? Just take a look back at World War Z's trailer, at the heavy handed CGI at 1:19, 1:56, and probably at its worst at 2:12.
It simply does not look even remotely real, it looks like the work of an edit suite program called 'ZombieHoard5.0' or something. And as a result, it's about 40 - 50% - a conservative estimate - as scary is it
should be. When it comes to CGI, there's a very fine line between tasteful and tacky and for my money, the World War Z trailer unashamedly leaps across it and three times no less. And the sad thing is, I really can't imagine it gets much better within.
