X-Men: Apocalypse: Everything We Already Know

Stan Lee isn't the only cameo you should expect...

The latest entry into the X-Men franchise is still more than six months away from release, but ever since the movie was first teased at the end of Days Of Future Past, fans have been avidly anticipating the direction in which Bryan Singer will take the series. After all, on the strength of its title alone, Apocalypse invites some lofty expectations, and though Singer has so far risen to the occasion every time he's gone up to bat for this franchise, no filmmaker is infallible. Ignoring the whole "Ivan Ooze" controversy, though, pretty much everything we've heard about the movie so far sounds promising and ambitious, as Singer aims to establish a very different future for the series, while bringing the X-Men's most legendary antagonist to the big screen. Here's everything we already know from X-Men: Apocalypse, including cameo appearances, subplots and what that Comic-Con trailer told us.

10. It's Set In 1983

First Class took place in 1962 and Days of Future Past in 1973, and Apocalypse will take yet another leap forward, being set in 1983. Fans have already been speculating how the film will tie into the historical context of the day, perhaps relating to the Cold War or possibly the birth of the Internet, as Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) no doubt influences history with his immense powers. While the distinct nature of the setting remains under wraps, some set pictures have revealed that the film is going to embrace its 80s style, what with the quirky attire Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) can be seen wearing above, and Bryan Singer has also been spotted shooting a scene involving Jubilee (Lana Condor) at a retro video game arcade. One of the best things about this new trilogy of X-Men movies is how distinct each one has felt, making the most of its time period, and it looks like Apocalypse will do just the same.
