X-Men Days Of Future Past: The Sentinels Are Here!

Sentinel_Body_twitter There was a time when I was a kid where watching all my favorite superhero cartoons meant so much. Maybe it was because there were literally no limits to what could happen, or perhaps it was that they were just too freaking cool to pass up. Animated series such as Spider Man, Batman, Iron Man, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were all at the front of the line when it came to childhood imagination and memories. But another huge addition to that group was the X-Men animated series, and all the craziness that perspired in that series' running time. I remember one such enemy of the famous mutant group almost constantly taking notice, and they were the Sentinels. With The Wolverine already slashing its way through the box office and meeting the expectations of most fans (I included), things are now looking to 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. A sequel to both First Class and the original X-Men trilogy (The Wolverine along with it), Days of FuturePast is looking to aim high in the sky with what can only be described as one of the most long-awaited storylines in the history of X-Men: the arrival of the Sentinels from Trask Industries. The Sentinels, for those who don't know, are a massive ensemble of androids that were used to collectively eliminate the mutant threat throughout the world. Capable of abilities such as detecting mutants anywhere in the world to using focused energy beams to destroy targets, they are deemed as the most versatile adversary the X-Men have ever faced. And their reputation proceeds them; they're single-handedly responsible for the deaths of millions of mutants during the course of their historic run in the comics and are turned into even bigger threats when other Marvel baddies such as Loki or Onslaught managed to get their filthy, evil paws on them to use to their advantage. Anyways, the news has made the rounds that the Sentinels will, in fact, be the primary nemesis' of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Bolivar Trask will also have a role in the film, played by none other than Peter Dinklage. (Game of Thrones), who is the creator of the Sentinels in the comics. Bryan Singer, the acclaimed director of the first two X-Men films and now returning to form with Days of Future Past, recently tweeted a picture of a full scale model version of an actual Sentinel. The fact that it stands in all its glory when compared to Bryan's inferior self warrants a proper nerd-gasm. sentinel2 There is no doubt in anyone's mind that 2014 is going to hold some huge blockbusters on the card for the fans to dig into. Now that X-Men: Days of Future Past has placed itself pretty high on that card, fans of the original trilogy who hated the sublime ending of The Last Stand and the train-wreck that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine will now have reason enough to come back, as Bryan Singer is now back in the pilot's seat and will lead the series back into the promised land. Below are a handful of images with up-close looks at the Sentinel's facial design. What do you guys think? Do they look convincing enough to their comic book counterparts? 1006282_10151663408025808_505778823_nIMG_7298-610x457sentinel
