Zack Snyder ready for "Watchmen"

watchmen.jpgFirst off, I've now seen the full trailer for Zack Snyder's next movie 300, and OH MY GOD how cool does it look? Can't wait to see the trailer on the big screen. Now we already know that Snyder has another comic book adaptation to shoot, that of the much celebrated Alan Moore graphic novel Watchmen. What's the status of the movie? Well here's some quotes from an exclusive interview Empire had with the director... "We€™re getting ready to turn a script that we like into this studio,€ says Snyder. €œThey€™re pretty excited about it€€œ1985€™s a problem for people,€ he continues. €œThe Cold War€™s a problem for people. But these are things I€™ve been trying to would be cool. I like that Richard Nixon is the president in it. I think that€™s important". He goes on to mention that no casting talks have taken place as of yet but he believes that many names are interested just because of the graphic novel. You can read the full interview by clicking here. I like that they are setting in 1985 because although the story could be probably be adapted quite easily into present day fears, it works much better in that era. I was never that big a fan of Watchmen, and i've always been baffled as to why it is heralded as the best graphic novel over the likes of The Dark Knight Returns or V for Vendetta. Nevertheless, I liked it enough to get exicted about seeing it on the big screen. Honestly, I find it hard to imagine what it would look like and part of me thinks it can't be done, but I guess we will see. After the look of 300, maybe Snyder can do anything. source - empire
