10 Best Wii U Games So Far

Despite what you might think, Nintendo's little box has a cracking game library.

2014 was a year of growth for Wii U. A steady stream of solid releases gradually built up momentum for Nintendo's struggling console, resulting in the best year of sales figures since its launch back in 2012. Third-party support has now almost completely dried up, with even the likes of Assassin's Creed and Call Of Duty neglecting the platform - but considering how ridiculously buggy Unity was this year, this may actually be a blessing in disguise. It may not get the games that other consoles do, but Wii U's game library is not short on diversity. From platformers and survival horror games to strategy games and puzzlers - it's proving to be a great system for gamers that fancy playing something a bit different. Of course, Nintendo exclusives (as always) are obviously the cream of the crop. The Japanese company has really gone all out in supporting the loyal fans that have stood by Wii U, creating highly polished titles that stand up tall with the best software they've ever made in their 30+ years in the business. And that support shows no sign of waining just yet; Starfox, Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker and the promising new paintball shooter Splatoon are all coming out this year. Wii U may have its problems, but a rubbish game library definitely isn't one of them.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
