10 Famous Gaming Secrets (That Never Really Existed)

10. All The Bonds

Game: Goldeneye 64

The Secret: It's possible to unlock every Bond as a playable character!

It's no secret that Goldeneye 64 took the games industry by storm, successfully selling the idea of a console first-person shooter to players for the first time. While it was a tremendously ambitious title on release though, there were a number of additional features that Rare had also hoped to include. These pre-release plans led to the common rumour that it was possible to unlock every James Bond as a playable character.

Certain pre-release material had shown Sean Connery in the role as Bond, and the way the cheats were presented suggested a hidden 24th cheat. It was this 24th cheat that many believed would lead to the Bond unlock.

The myth was further propagated by Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine printing faked screenshots of Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton as an April Fools' joke, and the rumours persisted for many years after release. In actuality, Nintendo had failed to secure the likeness rights, so the cheat was never actually included in the game.
