10 Pathetic Video Game Baddies You Should Feel Bad For Killing

10. Genome Soldiers - Metal Gear Solid

Super soldier henchmen have a long and illustrious history in goodies vs baddies stories, whether in terms of movies or video games, and for almost as long as they've been a mainstay in both, they've been curiously inept whenever they're on the dark side of the divide. Despite their vast training and supposedly super powers, they tend to be little more than cannon fodder, showing their weakness the minute the narrative calls for a heroic swell and a shift towards the climactic act. And that is particularly true of the Genome Soldiers in the Metal Gear Solid series - traiterous, genetically modified killing machines, who are comically bamboozled by a man hiding beneath a box. No matter how many of their colleagues you kill, or how terribly obvious your hiding space, they will also completely lose track of you, and allow you to go back to picking them off like flies without harrassment. It's like shooting particularly stupid fish in a barrel, and it's hard to take too much pleasure after a while.
