Then:

Introduced in 1992, Ecco The Dolphin was a blowhole-spewed breath of salty air, a game that while on the outset looked cutesy – you do assume control of a squeaky mammal, after all – was something much more interesting.

This was an adventure game where you initially start by cavorting around coral reefs, lagoons and arctic crevices, but soon segues into an underwater sci-fi nightmare - something that was expanded upon in 1994 sequel, The Tides Of Time.

It’s elements like this that made Ecco’s first two 16-bit adventures so memorable and his Dreamcast unveiling one of that generations prettiest titles. Let’s not mention Ecco Jr. though, yeah?

Now:

Sadly, it seems that any hopes of a sequel to Defender Of The Future sank with the Dreamcast, as since this 2000 release Ecco has only resurfaced for an appearance in a couple of Sega collections on various consoles and a remake on the 3DS.

I live in hope of a relaunch.
