This year's E3 proved to be somewhat of a treat for Nintendo Switch owners, with major announcements including a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the latest updates on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and news on the upcoming Luigi's Mansion 3. With the Switch Lite console coming soon, expect many more exciting releases on Nintendo's eShop in the near future.

But what about right now?

You completed the original Breath of the Wild long ago, and you've played so much of Super Smash Bros. your controller needs a holiday - at least until you can finally play as Banjo-Kazooie.

You want something new; something that isn't one of the big-name titles that you've already played. With so many new games added to the eShop every day, it can be difficult to sift through everything available to find a hidden gem.

Thankfully, this is where I come in, as I've rounded up a number of high quality titles you can buy from the Switch eShop right now. Yes, they're overshadowed by more well-known fare, but alongside those games, it only makes the Switch itself even better.

10. Tesla Vs Lovecraft

Another 2018 eShop release, this twin-stick, top-down arena shooter allows you to play as the mysterious inventor and futurist Nikola Tesla.

After his laboratory is burned down by the creations of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft, a showdown between the two begins.

As you harness static energy to collect power ups for Tesla's arsenal of weapons and his battle robot, you fight and annihilate the nightmarish monsters of Lovecraft's imagination that flood each game level.

Perhaps surprisingly, the science versus horror premise works, and doesn't take itself too seriously. This creates a fast-paced shooter that is unique and satisfying, with responsive, tight gameplay, and levels that are relatively brief - each around a few minutes long. Tesla vs Lovecraft also gives you the option to play local co-op, and to choose between three levels of difficulty.

There are plenty of perks to earn as Tesla levels up, and you can attempt to add your name to the top of the online leaderboards in survival mode. This is a game, from the developer 10tons, that makes sure it gives the player plenty to do.
