Guild Wars 2 is finally here. And it’s awesome. Read some of the reviews if you don’t believe me.
Is it the fabled “WOW Killer” the world has been anticipating? Let’s put that notion to rest once and for all. There is no “WOW Killer”. There never will be. WOW is a classic and classics are immortal. World of Warcraft was, and continues to be, an online gaming phenomenon. A pioneer of the genre, WOW set the standards by which all other MMOs are judged. It could be argued that without WOW, Guild Wars 2 would probably not exist, at least not in its present form. Although the numbers have dropped, with 8 0r 9 million worldwide subscribers, WOW is still far and away the most popular game in the MMORPG marketplace. Future MMOs may surpass it in numbers. Others may tweak the formula to different extents. But nothing short of Blizzard pulling the plug will ever kill WOW, and with the new expansion ‘Mists of Pandaria’ around the corner, that isn’t likely to happen any time soon.
So, having established my respect and reverence for Blizzard’s Magnum Opus, without further ado, here is my list of The Top 10 Reasons Why Guild Wars 2 is Better Than WOW:
1. Graphics
WOW was first released in November, 2004. Guild Wars 2 was released in August, 2012. While WOW’s graphics are semi-updated every time an expansion is released, it’s still uses virtually the same engine it did upon release. While Azeroth and its inhabitants are cartoon-y and child-like, the world of Guild Wars 2 is much more detailed and realistic. It’s a completely different art style, which makes it very much like comparing apples and oranges. But with almost 8 years separating the launch of these two games, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Guild Wars 2 has substantially better graphics.
2. No Monthly Subscription Fees
Depending on the length of the subscription you purchase, WOW can cost a player the price of the base game and up to $14.95 a month, which translates roughly to $150 a year. Guild Wars has no monthly subscription fee at all and aside from the purchase price of the base game, it’s virtually free-to-play.

another mmo failed to be the wow killer….gw2 blows…the only game tht will kill wow is wow itself.

LOL, wOw is done. it doesnt hold a candle to GW2, not in any areas. If it did, Blizzard would not be losing hundreds of thousands of subscription fees per month. wow is done, permanently

Hellow okay i give that better graphics but you said three Times about money that makes just 2 thinks why it is better than wow about community wow have better you need to choose what role you are in so you can specialize in to that and if we have noob we help them learn if we have noob warrior then we give tips and if still too hard let druid tank hard enemies in bear form if you want to be dps/supporting paladin yes you can or maybe priest same thing what about exp gaining hey guys kill your self so i can get levels by Reviving you good job you just learned How to do suicide we get exp from exploring like you and grinding on 76 to 77 takes 90min thta game goes fast to grave what you get in end game when you go so fast nothing and so “events” have you ever been in bre festival or maybe midsummmer festival in wow it have lots more doing :) lets go PvP oh it is same as we go 20level oh nothing new lets go back to wow And last but not least my blood elf have bigger breasts better ass and cooler gear that is what makes my elf hotter than your ever :) thanks for this thread it i laughed so much and have nice day

Guild wars 2 sucks… heck even the people who made guild wars 2 knew they was doing bad… they sold their company to another dont beleave me? go look it up… now that company focuses on the cash shop and evertyhing is nothing but a grind hundreds of areas are empty the playerbase of GW2 is getting smaller and smaller…

i’m a gw2 player and i agree that gw2 is lackluster in end game and WvWvW it’s really nothing to do when you are level 80 when you got all the gears you want it’s not hard WoW is still better i’m really disappointed with Anet about the game but i still have patience left and gw2 is still young i think they just need to add something more events every map not just dungeons and fractals and it will be good people are just sticking with gw2 because its free if WoW is free gw2 will die in a blink of an eye
OK, I think you’ve convinced me to give this one a try. For one thing, it’s nice to see an MMO that’s noob/casual player friendly, and not your usual MMO where the hardcore fanatics force everyone else to bow down before them. Also, I’m really happy to see a game that’s trying to get away from the old and tired tank-DPS-healer mindset. Between WoW, SWTOR, and Secret World, I am so sick of hearing about tanks, DPS, and healers. Enough already! It’s nice to see an MMO trying to think outside the box and do something different for a change. :)
The best reason to play GW2 is reading the wow-fanboys replies to this topic. I don’t want to play with childish inmature “PRO” kids. They are complaining and insulting here against GW2 so… my game is GW2 where I won’t meet them :D
