10 Most Scandalous Gaming Moments Of 2014

Yes, more women in games! Erm, on second thought...

Gta V Banned What a year it has been for the humble gamer. As time keeps flowing like a river so too does the capabilities of video games, both graphically (you could look at a river in a title on the PS4 or Xbox One and it€™d look like an actual, real life river, with real-time reflections and everything) and mechanically (you€™re just as likely to play a Call Of Duty that has you crawling through a watery trench into battle as you are an indie title where you play as a Pooh stick floating listlessly along a babbling brook, getting you to question the nature of your existence and the inextricable pull of fate). The big consoles have began to really pay off on their early promise, and hey, it looks like the WiiU might finally be worth buying! Because, y€™know, new Zelda. Old games are being resurrected - yay Grim Fandango, but don€™t mention Final Fantasy VII - and Steam continues to herald a renaissance in PC gaming, with their Greenlight program being right up there with the likes of Kickstarter in terms of bringing new, interesting voices to the medium. Not that it€™s all been sunshine, lollipops and free DLC. Far from it. The year in gaming hasn€™t been free of controversy (when is it?), with hardcore players especially being struck down with buggy launches, crummy online play and a whole bunch of other disappointments. Then there are some of the wider cultural issues 2014 has brought to light, not to mention some tabloid-worthy scandal. Hasty cancellations, check. More than a handful of controversies involving the app store, check. Censorship, sexism, and ethics in games journalism? Check, check, and double check. Here are the ten biggest video game scandals of 2014.
